Theodorakis again well

15. After a long health crisis, Mikis Theodorakis has recovered.

In May 1997, the Greek composer had to abandon a concert tour after the Berlin premiere with the Turkish artist Zülfü Livaneli, because of acute respiration problems, and due to a following cure, he took distance from almost all his artistic activities.

Now the therapy is completed, and the composer can dedicate again increasingly to his musical creation. His first public appearance after his involuntary pause will be at 25 May 1998 in the London Queen Elizabeth Hall, where he will conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO).

16. Theodorakis will come back to Germany on 30 October 1998, and he will direct among other works, the premiere of his Cello Concerto at the Munich Philharmonic.

17. Mikis Theodorakis is the most important composer of his country. His best known work is the musical adaptation of the material of Nikos Kazantzakis's novel: "Zorba The Greek", which became first of all famous through the film by Cacoyannis with Anthony Quinn, and was celebrated later around the globe in different symphonic versions – among others as ballet. "Zorbas Dance" is now a synonym for Greek music, and Theodorakis's classic cycles like "Canto General", "Canto Olympico" and others, have become modern classics.

18. After having published last year „Symphony No. 1 & Adagio", intuition music & media prepares presently the publication of Mikis Theodorakis's "Symphony No.4".

Theodorakis's autobiography has just now been issued as paperback edition under the title "Die Wege des Erzengels" (The Ways of the Archangel) at Suhrkamp.
