THEODORAKIS,
FARANDURI AND LIVANELI TO SING TOGETHER AT ''FRIENDSHIP CONCERT'' IN ISTANBUL
AND ATHENS
ISTANBUL, October 11 (A.A) - Mikis Theodorakis,
Maria Faranduri and Zulfu Livaneli will give a ''Friendship Concert'' at
Istanbul's Harbiye open air theater on October 12 and at Athens Constitution
Square on October 13. The concert was postponed due to the earthquake which
hit Athens on September 8.
An orchestra composed of Turkish, Greek, and German
musicians will accompany Theodorakis, Faranduri, and Livaneli on Tuesday
night. The concert will start at 7.30 p.m.
All the revenues of the concert will be given to quake
victims both in Turkey and Greece. The tickets are available at Vakkorama
branches, various book and music stores and Harbiye open air theater.
Tasos Mandelis, the Greek Transportation and Communication
Minister, five parliamentarians, artists, and unionists will come to Istanbul
from Greece on Tuesday to watch the concert.

TO ATTEND TURKISH QUAKE FUND-RAISER

and Communications Minister Tassos Mandelis will meet with his Turkish
counterpart Ennis Oksuz in Istanbul on Tuesday, an ANA dispatch from Ankara
reported. Mandelis, who is in the Turkish city to attend a joint Greek-Turkish
fund-raiser for quake relief, will arrive in Istanbul on Monday evening
and meet Oksuz at midday on Tuesday. Also in Istanbul are MPs Rovertos
Spyropoulos, from PASOK, Theofanis Didimoshakis, from New Democracy, Stavros
Skopelitis, from Communist Party, and Mustafa Mustafa, from Left Coalition.
All will be attending the concert to be given by composer Mikis Theodorakis,
Turkish composer Zhulfi Livanelli and singer Maria Farantouri. The concert
will be repeated in Athens on Wednesday night.

Transport and Communications Minister Tassos Mantelis
will meet with his Turkish counterpart Ennis Oksuz in Istanbul today.
Mr. Mantelis, who will arrive today in the city to
attend a joint Greek- Turkish fundraiser for quake relief, will meet Mr.
Oksuz at midday today.
Also in Istanbul are Greek MPs Rovertos Spyropoulos,

SINGER THEODORAKIS AND POLIZAGOPULOS, CHAIRMAN OF GREEK LABOUR CONFEDERATION,
IN ISTANBUL
ISTANBUL, Oct 12 (A.A) - Greek singer
Mikis Theodorakis and Hristos Polizagopulos, the Chairman of Greek Labour
Confederation, arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Theodorakis and Polizagopulos came to Istanbul to
participate in the ''Friendship Concert'' which will be held for the quake
survivors by the initiatives of the Turkish and Greek labour organizations.
Polizagopulos said that Greece launched aid campaign for Turkey following
the devastating quake.
Emphasizing that their aim is to set up a hospital
in Izmit, Polizagopulos noted that they continue their efforts for this.
Theodorakis said that Turkish and Greek nations do
not have any problems.
Stressing that they participate in the peace efforts
for 13 years, Theodorakis stated that the best example for their efforts
is the participation of the Turkish and Greek labour organizations in these
efforts.
Noting that he believes that the administrators of
the two countries should pay attention to the message of the two nations,
Theodorakis stressed that they believe that the peace, friendship, and cooperation
will prevail at last.

CONCERT FOR FRIENDSHIP
The concert by Zulfi Livaneli, Mikis Theodorakis
and Maria Faranduri, which was postponed due to the earthquake, will be
staged in Istanbul's Harbiye Open-Air Theatre at 19:30 tonight. A huge
orchestra comprising Turkish, Greek and German musicians will accompany
Theodorakis, Livaneli and Faranduri. Theodorakis spoke to `Sabah' newspaper
and said, "We should protect the flowers that bloomed among the tragedies
caused by the earthquake that saddened the people of both countries."

sang for friendship in Istanbul. The ''Friendship Concert'' which had been
planned to be held in an earlier date was postponed after a quake hit Greece.
