The War in Iraq

A new declaration by Mikis Theodorakis

We are witnesses of an unprecedented and incessant slaughter of civilians that is unfolding day and night before our astounded eyes.

Certain so called civilized people are sowing destruction and death without any justification and simultaneously they are tearing our values, our culture and our humanity to pieces.

Something should be done, now, immediately, in order to stop the war. The people went down into the streets, however currently it is impossible for them to impose their will.

I think of the governments of powerful states, the governments of Europe which stand by watching this crime apathetically, and honestly, I am saddned unto death.

Don’t they understand that with this attitude they are pushing the peace loving people to despair and rage?
